"Thus Saith The Lord!" (Isaiah 8:20)
“Historically, that which has distinguished Baptists from both papists and protestants is the fact that we believe and preach only that which is plainly revealed in Holy Scripture. We are glad to know that our doctrine and practices are supported by history, but we believe nothing and practice nothing simply because others have done so in history. We are delighted with the knowledge that our doctrine and ordinances are logical and reasonable, but we do not base any doctrine or practice upon human logic. We base our faith and our practices as the church of Christ upon the Word of God alone. Our doctrine is neither more nor less than the written Word of God (Isa. 8:20; II Tim. 3:16). Our only creed, our only confession of faith is ‘Thus saith the Lord!’
We believe the doctrine of the TRINITY because John stated it exactly (I John 5:7). We rejoice in the FORGIVENESS OF SIN because it is written out plainly in the Word of God (I John 1:9). We declare every believer's total FREEDOM FROM THE LAW because it is written, ‘We are not under the law, but under grace’ (Rom. 6:15). We insist upon BELIEVER'S BAPTISM (IMMERSION) because it was commanded by our Lord (Matt. 28:19), exemplified by him (Matt. 3:16), and constantly practiced in the New Testament (Acts 8:37). There is no other mode of baptism. No one was ever baptized in the New Testament except those who personally professed faith in Christ. We observe THE LORD'S TABLE with wine and unleavened bread, leaving it open to all believers, because that is the way it was done in the New Testament (I Cor. 11:23-26; Acts 20:1-7). We believe in the TOTAL DEPRAVITY of man (Rom. 5:12), the UNCONDITIONAL ELECTION of some to salvation (II Thess. 2:13), PARTICULAR, EFFECTUAL REDEMPTION (Isa. 53:8; Heb. 9:12), the EFFECTUAL CALL of the Spirit (Rom. 9:16), and the INFALLIBLE PRESERVATION of all God's elect in grace (John 10:28), because these things are plainly written out in unmistakable language in the Word of God.
Our faith stands neither in the wisdom of man, nor in the word of man, no matter how wise, no matter how great, no matter how many they may be. Our faith stands in the Word of God alone. I am prepared, if need be, to stand alone in that faith.”

“If they speak not according to this word, it is because there is no light in them” (Isaiah 8:20).
“Why are there so many false preachers who blatantly deny the Inspired Word of God? There is no light in them. Why are there so many who believe the lies of false preachers? There is no light in them. Why do our friends and loved ones turn a deaf ear to the one true Gospel of God‘s Sovereign Grace? There is no light in them. They see the light of day. They see the light of nature. Their natural eyes see God’s glory declared in the heavens. They see His handiwork in the firmament so that they are without excuse (Psalm 19:1 - 3; Romans 1:20). But the light all unregenerate men and women CANNOT see is Jesus Christ. If God does not enlighten our minds, revealing to us that Jesus Christ is Jehovah God, our Creator who became a man to pay the redemption price for all our sins, God WILL NOT receive any praise from us. Jesus Christ is the one and only way any sinner can approach God. In John 14:6, our Lord Jesus said: “I am the way, the truth, and the life: no man cometh unto the Father, but be me.” Jesus Christ is not a way to God - He is THE ONLY WAY to God! Our blessed Redeemer is not a truth - HE IS THE TRUTH! Jesus Christ is the Giver of all life. From the beautiful rose to the ugliest weed; from the tiny scrub oak to the giant cedars of Lebanon, from the smallest insect to the giant pachyderm, all worms, all snakes, all fish, birds, EVERYTHING, including all human life, lives and moves and has its being because of the life-giving power of Jesus Christ WHO IS THE LIFE. And He, Jesus Christ the God-man, is the one who gives eternal life to as many as God the Father gave to Him (John 17:1 - 3). The elect of God come to the Father by the life-giving power of Jesus Christ, who, by the sacrifice of Himself, sanctified and perfected them in God’s sight forever (Heb. 10:1 - 18). Those who preach any other Gospel than that which gives Jesus Christ all the glory do not have the light of Christ in them. JESUS CHRIST IS GOD’S GLORY!
Why do God’s enlightened saints believe the truth? Why do we bow down to Jesus Christ, giving Him all the glory? Because God, who commanded the light to shine out of darkness, hath shined in our hearts, to give the light of the knowledge of the glory of God in the face of Jesus Christ” (2 Cor. 4:6). Pastor

Balaam's Ass Spoke the Truth, but He Was Still, an Ass!
“I assume that you are Calvinistic in creed, fundamental in faith, and moral in manners or you would not be identified with this people. But has the grace you profess made you gracious? Has the love of God you claim made you a loving, tender and kind person? Has the forgiveness of your sins taught you how to forgive? Has your friendship with ‘that great friend’ taught you how to be a true and loyal friend? Having received the heavenly gifts freely from God's merciful hand, have you learned to give to others freely and generously? You have studied the person and work of Jesus Christ, but ‘have you learned Christ?’ The only true evidence that you or anyone has of the fact that you know Christ and have truly been with Christ, is that you demonstrate in attitude and action the ways and will of Christ. Is this not what Paul is saying in 1 Corinthians 13? One may have the orthodoxy and knowledge, and gifts of religion; but if he does not have love, he is nothing! Don't just preach the love of God; demonstrate it! My friends, a contentious, unloving, ungracious person is a stranger to the grace of God; for the grace of God makes men and women gracious and loving in all areas. ‘By this shall all men know that you are my disciples, if you love one another.’ Balaam's ass spoke the truth, but he was still an ass! Speaking the truth does not necessarily change one: Learning the truth does.”

“By this one great declaration the whole of antichrist religion is exposed and put to shame. The whole of this worlds religious pretenders preach a Christ who cannot, of himself, keep anything. Oh, but not so with the Christ of God. In the Christ of God is no compromise, no failure, no defeat, and no loss. God tells us plainly in Isaiah 45: 20 that it is the heathen idolatry of this world that prays to a god that cannot save. Those who truly preach the gospel preach a Savior that saves, a redeemer who redeems, and a King who reigns. The redemptive will of God that rejoices the hearts of chosen sinners is the will of God accomplished in the person and work of Jesus Christ.”

“My sins may grieve me, and indeed they do, but since Christ is all, since my salvation is based entirely on what He has done, what I have done is of no eternal consequence. Such a statement may trouble the mind of the legalist, for he simply cannot believe that his actions do not determine his destiny.
However, the believer knows that God has “Predestinated us unto the adoption of children by Jesus Christ” (Ephesians 1:5). The believer’s destiny has been determined by God, and secured by the person and merits of Jesus Christ.
Will such preaching breed a sinful life or an antinomian spirit? Only in those who do not believe! However, in those who do believe, in whose heart resides the blessed hope of being like Christ, it is a purifying truth.”
