PROVERBS 16:6

By mercy and truth iniquity is purged: and by the fear of the LORD men depart from evil.

WELCOME TO RESCUE BAPTIST CHURCH

“Sinners are welcome at this church. We are a local body of the Lord Jesus Christ. As you spend time with us, you’ll soon discover we’re an imperfect church, with an imperfect pastor, yet by God’s undeserved grace, we preach, believe, and know the perfect gospel of our never-failing Lord Jesus Christ. We call His name Jesus for He shall, (not might, not maybe) but shall save His people from their sins, and every sinner that trusts in Christ is complete in Him, saved  to the uttermost” HEBREWS 7:25                                           (copied)

THE SOLID ROCK

Romans 8:31 - 35

Four bold challenges of faith

“The believer’s assurance does not depend upon his outward circumstances, his inward feelings, or his personal obedience.  Our assurance rests entirely upon the person and finished work of Christ, as it is set forth in the Word of God.  In this passage of Scripture, the apostle Paul breaks out into exultant praise.  Having established the great truths of God’s rich grace in Christ, he seems unable to restrain himself.  Waving the palm branches of victory through Christ, the redeemed sinner defies all his enemies and glories in salvation by Christ, raising these four bold challenges.

1.    ‘If God be for us, who can be against us?’  The God of all power, of sovereign dominion, and eternal love is for us.  He is for us in His sovereign providence, working all things together for our good.  God is for us in His saving purpose, in electing love, predestinating grace, effectual calling, perfect justification and eternal glorification.  He is for us in His substitutionary provision, sparing not His only Son.  Let earth and hell unite in their rage against God’s elect - we will not fear, for God is for us!

2.  ‘Who shall lay anything to the charge of God’s elect?’  Nobody can!  Satan cannot; he is defeated.  The world cannot; it is condemned.  The law cannot; it is honoured.  God in justice cannot; ‘it is God that justifieth’.  God declares that we are perfectly righteous in Christ.  He will never charge us with sin.  ‘Blessed is the man to whom the Lord will not impute sin!’

3.  ‘Who is he that condemneth?;  It is impossible that one of Christ’s sheep should ever perish, because Christ died in our place.  He was raised again for our justification.  He finished the work of our redemption and sat down in heaven.  Christ himself intercedes for us in glory.

4.  ‘Who shall separate us from the love of Christ?’  No power, no being and no act of men, of Satan, or of the demons of hell, can separate us from the Saviour’s love.”

                                                                                     Pastor Don Fortner

"NOT MINE" and "NOT LOVED" --Romans 9:25—

‘As he says in Hosea: “I will call them ‘my people’ who are not my people; and I will call her 'my loved one' who is not my loved one,"–Romans 9:25

It is written in the book of Hosea that Hosea's wife, Gomer, bore him a son.  Afterward, it is written that Gomer bore two more children.  These two children were evidently not Hosea's, so they were named, "Not Mine" and "Not Loved."  Life for these children must have been difficult.  Every time they were called on, they were reminded of their illegitimacy and the fact that they had no right to live in Hosea's house.  Their only hope of a happy life and an inheritance was Hosea's grace.  They could not obligate Hosea to show them any good.  But, if Hosea wanted to do them good, he could: He could sovereignly call them "Mine", and sovereignly choose to love those who had no claim on his love.

What a beautiful picture of God's sovereign grace!  By nature we are "Not Mine" and "Not Loved."  Rather than children of God, we are children of wrath.  We have no claim on God or His love. We have no home or inheritance.  But in sovereign love and mercy, God has called us "Mine" and "Beloved."

I imagine that those children had a special love for Hosea as he took them as his own.  And you can imagine how loved they felt when, in public, someone would call them by their old names, and Hosea would step forward and say, "No, let me introduce you to "Mine" and "Loved."  And how blessed it is for us when law, conscience and Satan step up to call us by our old names only to hear God say through the gospel, "No, these are 'Mine,' and 'Loved.'  In the very next verse Paul quotes, "It will happen that in the very place where it was said to them, 'You are not my people,' they will be called 'sons of the living God.'"  Freewillers and legalists can have their "gospels". I rejoice in free and sovereign grace!”

A Living Union with Christ

“Our Lord said, ‘I am THE DOOR; by me if any man enter in he shall be saved.’  There is no other door. He said, ‘I am THE WAY, THE TRUTH, and THE LIFE. NO man cometh to the Father, but by me.’  There is no other way, no other truth, and no other source of eternal life.  Everything our God has spiritually and eternally for a sinner is in our Lord Jesus Christ, by our Lord Jesus, and through our Lord Jesus.  Acceptance, forgiveness, and salvation are ours by that living union with Christ.  He said, ‘I am the true vine, you are the branches; abide in me and I in you.  As the branch cannot bear fruit of itself, except it abide in the vine; NO MORE CAN YOU, except you abide in me.’  Believers are true branches which have life and joy.  They grow and bear spiritual fruit only because of their union with the life-giving Vine—Christ Jesus our Lord.”

                                                                           Pastor Henry T. Mahan

“I believe men will argue about the new nature up until the time that they have one, and then they will just be grateful to the God of all grace, who makes all things new.”

                                                Pastor Chris Cunningham

The Worst Place to Drown (Genesis 7:23)

“I cannot think of a worse place to drown than beside the boat. Even so, I cannot think of a worse way to perish than under the sound of the gospel.  Only those in Christ will remain alive when the flood of God’s wrath comes for the last time. — ‘And Noah only remained alive, and they that were with him in the ark’.”

                                                                                        Pastor John Chapman

By the Prophets

“God, who at sundry times and in divers manners spake in time past unto the fathers by the prophets . . .” (Hebrews 1:1).

“The word prophet in the Old Testament means, ‘spokesman’, and is from a root word which means ‘to speak under divine influence’.  Interesting that this root word would come to be used for God’s spokesmen and it is because if a sinner is going to speak for God, God must bless that sinner and specially enable him to do so. “For the prophecy came not in old time by the will of man: but holy men of God spake as they were moved by the Holy Ghost”(2 Peter 1:21). In Hebrews 1:1 the prophets are mentioned, but it is God Who spoke.  We see this same wording in Luke 1:68 - 70: “Blessed be the Lord God of Israel; for he hath visited and redeemed his people, And hath raised up an horn of salvation for us in the house of his servant David;  As he spake by the mouth of his holy prophets, which have been since the world began.”

No man has ever truly spoken for God, then or now, that has not had a message directly from God, and it has always been the same message. Everyone who is not preaching Christ and Him crucified is just pretending to speak for God.  If the Holy Ghost has anything to do with it, it will be Christ alone.  Let religious zealots speak of ‘a message for our day’, all they want. There has never been but one message for any day, and that is Christ Jesus, the sovereign, effectual Redeemer of sinners. While others are ‘sharing’ sensationalism under the misnomer of ‘end time prophecy’, and rambling about what sinners need to do for God, His spokesmen will be doing what our Lord Himself did while He was here: ‘And beginning at Moses and all the prophets, he expounded unto them in all the scriptures the things concerning himself’ (Luke 24:27).”

                                                                          Pastor Chris Cunningham

“The heart of the gospel is redemption, and the essence of redemption is the substitutionary sacrifice of Christ.  They who preach this truth preach the gospel in whatever else they may be mistaken; but they who preach not the atonement, whatever else they declare, have missed the soul and substance of the divine message.”                                                           C. H. Spurgeon

“Philip Henry, Matthew Henry’s father, wrote a little book on ‘Christ is All’.  And he said, ‘The fact that Jesus Christ is our righteousness will do us well three times’.  When we do something awful, how sweet it is to know that Jesus Christ is our righteous-ness.  When we do something good, how necessary it is to know that Jesus Christ is our righteousness.  And when we come down to die and we know that in moments we go out to face the most holy God, the thrice holy God, and the God before whom the stars and moon are not pure in his sight, the God whose eyes are too pure to behold evil.  I will tell you what I want.  I want Christ as my righteousness.  And that righteousness is righteousness accounted to us, imputed to us, based on the fact that God the Son glorified God the Father and gave us eternal life.”

                                                                           Pastor Tim James

“YE ARE COMPLETE IN HIM” (Colossians 2:10).

“The believers standing in Christ does not fluctuate with his feelings, not even the increase or decrease of his faith or understanding or anything else.  He stands complete in Christ. God would never trust any of His children to stand before him at anytime in their own selves - that is, in their merits or certain good frames of mind.  He knows our frame.  He remembers that we are yet dust.  Therefore, He has on purpose provided for them this perfect standing in Christ Jesus.  ‘Ye are complete in Him’, the Holy Ghost said.  He says in another place, ‘Ye are perfect in Christ Jesus’, (Col. 1:28.)  The very nature of our God requires us to be perfect and complete before Him at all times.  He, out of necessity, therefore provided all this for His children: a perfection, a completeness, which can never be diminished.  It is as unchanging as God himself, (Heb. 6:17; 13:8).  Every true believer may walk through this world in perfect liberty, free from anything and everything - yes, even his sin, fear of condemnation, and all else that would cause him to doubt of his completeness. He may freely come to God, worship Him, call Him ‘Father’, and this he may do at all times with the utmost confidence and thankfulness, because in Christ he stands, first and foremost and always, complete before God.  O thanks be to God for Jesus Christ.”

                                                                            Pastor Bruce Crabtree

A Good Hope

“It is only when our Lord in grace and mercy takes away our imaginary strength that we truly look to Him and trust Him.  This we do not learn in creeds and confessions of faith.  This we are taught by Him in personal relationship in the experience of grace. I only find hope in Him when there is no hope anywhere else.  It is easy to learn correct doctrine, but faith, hope, comfort, rest in Christ is a living experience.  Justification, redemption, atonement, sanctification and glorification are not only doctrinal truths believed in the heart, they are truths experienced in the heart in regeneration.  Our Lord is our life, and all that is in Him is ours.  There is no hope in what I know, my only hope is in Him and what He has done.  May God in mercy shut us up to Christ alone!”

                                                                              Pastor Tommy Robbins

“We should always read the Old Testament with a desire to find something in it about Jesus Christ.  We study this portion of the Bible with little profit, if we can see nothing in it but Moses, and David, and Samuel, and the Prophets.  Let us search the books of the Old Testament more closely.  It was said by Him whose words can never pass away, ‘These are they which testify of Me’.”

                                   J. C. Ryle

Fallen man is body and soul, spiritually dead. God the Holy Spirit does not regenerate the old man in the new birth. In the new birth, he makes fallen, spiritually dead sinners whole, putting a new nature in us, making us “partakers of the divine nature.” With Christ formed in us, we are made whole again — body, soul, and spirit.

                                                                                      Pastor Don Fortner

“The scriptures make it abundantly clear that salvation is by God’s free grace in Christ. The good news of the gospel is that since salvation is by grace, there is no condition a sinner must meet in order to be saved. The Lord Jesus Christ met every condition required to save His people so that they would have salvation freely.”

                                                                                     Pastor Frank Tate

HAPPY FATHER’S DAY

·       A sincere “THANK YOU” to all who were able to participate in yesterday’s Work Day.

The Revelation of Faith

“But as it is written, Eye hath not seen, nor ear heard, neither have entered into the heart of man, the things which God hath prepared for them that love him.  But God hath revealed them unto us by his spirit:  For the Spirit searcheth all things, yeah, the deep things of God” (I Corinthians 2: 9 - 10).”

By the sanctification of the spirit and belief of the truth the believer is given spiritual eyes.  Spiritual eyes are eyes that see what others cannot and will not see.  The apostle, Paul describes this vision in

(II Corinthians 4: 18), saying…‘We look not at things which are seen, but at the things which are not seen:  For the things which are seen are temporal; but the things which are not seen are eternal.’  The faith of God’s elect is the gift of God that enables the believer to see through the eyes of God.  John said of Christ, ‘What he hath seen and heard, that he testifieth; and no man receiveth his testimony.  He that hath received his testimony hath set to his seal that God is true’ (John 3: 32-33).   The eyes of faith see through God’s eyes.   They see God as He is, man as he is, and Christ reconciling the two.  They see the eternal, immutable, purpose of God in redemption.  They see the everlasting covenant of grace and the one mediator between God and men accomplishing the will of God concerning these things.  The eyes of faith see a bleeding substitute satisfying the justice of God concerning their sins and His righteous obedience as their own righteousness making them ‘holy, unblameable and unreprovable in His sight’ (Colossians 1:22).   Seeing through His eyes we see the perfection of God in all He has done and find as God did when he looked upon His work that it is good and complete and sufficient to cease from our labors and enter into His rest.

GRACER GREATER THAN OUR SIN

ANNOUNCEMENTS

·       Our Summer Conference commences this Friday July 2nd kicking off with a BBQ at 1PM and meetings to start at 7PM

GRACE IS NEVER WITHOUT EFFECT

“Grace is not merely doctrine, but an unstoppable force of God.  It is never without effect!  We are chosen by grace with the undeniable effect that we are His.  We are redeemed by grace with the certain effect that we are free.  We are called by grace with the inescapable effect that we come to Him.  We are preserved by grace with the inevitable effect that we shall be with Him forever.”

                                                                                      Pastor Joe Terrel

l
“Let us ever seek grace to live by the rule of the gospel we preach, honoring God in all things; but do not imagine that you can preach the gospel by the way you live. — You can only preach the gospel by declaring it.”

                                                                                      Pastor Don Fortner

“A. W. Pink said, ‘When the sovereignty of God is denied, there will be no awe of Him.’  How true, for it is only before an Almighty, and Sovereign God that men will bow down and WORSHIP.  It is only in the purpose and will of our sovereign, all-wise Father that we can find PEACE. It is only through the blood and righteousness of a Redeemer WHO CANNOT FAIL, that we have a GOOD HOPE of eternal life!”

                                                                                     Pastor Henry Mahan

Our Assemblies

“By God’s all-wise appointment, our assemblies are the life, the food, and the nourishment of our souls.  It is the main way whereby we publicly identify with Christ and His Gospel.  We evidence our love for Christ by our loyalty and support of one another in opposition to all false worship.  Many things will rise up in competition to the diligent attendance of our assemblies.  We must recognize and refuse to give in to anything that is opposed to what Christ commands.  The total falling away of a graceless professor always begins with this neglect, this disassociation with God’s people (Heb. 10:25).”

                                                                               John Owen 1616-1683
