A WILLING SUBSTITUTE

“Christ did not die on the cross trying to save his people.  HE DIED SAVING HIS PEOPLE!  He was given the name Jesus for that very purpose:  For he shall save his people from their sins (Matt 1:21).  If you believe that God loves every one and died for everyone, then your idol is a failure as all idols are.  The God of scripture is not trying to do anything. HE IS ACCOMPLISHING HIS PURPOSE (Isa. 14:27).  He willingly became a man, laid down his life, paying the price of sin, for his sheep (John 10:15).  We have all sinned and came short of the glory of God; we all deserve the wrath to come, yet there is a people, chosen before the world was (Eph 1:4), who are to be the recipients’ of His Love.

Because he first loved us, we have a substitute.  One who has paid the price for us, one who stood in our place.  One who willingly received our just reward.  One who laid down his life for us.  No man taketh it from him (John 10:18).

Dear reader, I pray that The Lord of Glory is Your Substitute. Today is the day of salvation!  Believe on the LORD JESUS CHRIST and thou shalt be saved.”

AND WE KNOW

                    (ROMANS 8:28)

As my wife and I were going through the announcement of her sister having cancer a second time, I resorted to this very verse, as I often do, especially, when trials arise, and as I pondered this verse, I couldn’t help but pause, and see the blessing it is to “KNOW”. You see I can remember when I didn’t “KNOW”. I remember when my life was all about chance. I was either lucky or not. Then, in the day of his power! He gave me life. He came to me when I was yet dead in trespasses and sin, and through the preaching of his word, he revealed the truths of who he is and what he has done and who he has done it for! I know that JESUS THE CHRIST is God in the flesh! I know that He established a perfect righteousness for all of those that the Father hath given Him, I know he has paid the price in full for all my sins, past, present, and future. I know he sits on His throne, ruling over all things, and working out every detail according to his will. I know that if He had not given me the gift of faith, I would still be lost in chance, and luck. Dear reader, are you living in chance and luck! If so cry out! GOD HAVE MERCY ON ME! And may the peace of this verse, “AND WE KNOW THAT ALL THINGS WORK TOGETHER FOR GOOD TO THEM THAT LOVE GOD” be yours also!

CHOSEN WITNESSES

(ACTS 10:41)

As it is written in verse 40, Him (speaking of Christ) GOD raised up the third day, and showed him (Christ) openly; what this means is he showed him (Christ) as he was, with the pierce marks in his hands and feet, the pierce mark from the spear that pierced his side. But as we see in the beginning of verse 41, Not to all the people, but unto witnesses chosen before of God. Only those that had been chosen before the world was, chosen by God, witnessed this resurrected Christ!

Peter was speaking of those who lived in that day, but it also applies, too all of His chosen before and since!  We may not see him with our physical eyes, But we do see him with the eye of faith! The gift of faith (Eph 2:8).

When God the father comes to his elect, his chosen people, and reveals the crucified Son in his word, HE SHOWS US OPENLY, this one who stood as our substitute! This one who is God in the flesh! This one who willingly laid down his life for his sheep! This one who paid the price in full for all my sins! This one who is raised from the dead, sitting on His throne in heaven, ruling over everything that is! This one who cannot fail! This one who is LORD OF ALL!

As a witness to these things, that are pronounced throughout God’s holy scriptures, I declare unto you!    SALVATION IS OF THE LORD!

LIVING WATER

 (JOHN 4:10)

There are no coincidences with the God of all creation. The God of scripture controls all things, He is ether sovereign ruler over everything that is, or you cannot call him GOD! So it is of no coincidence, that water is used as a vital picture in God’s word. Water plays a very important part in all living things. Even our own survival depends on water! Have you ever thought about how everything that seems to be living, dies in a drought! Plant life, animal life, even human life withers away when there is no water. The human body can go an average of 21 days without the consumption of nutrients found in food, contrast that with this point, the human body can on only go without water, for about 3 to 4 days. Throughout scripture, water is used as a picture of God’s word going out into the world, a picture of God’s gospel being preached, a picture of the story of THE LORD JESUS CHRIST AND HIM CRUCIFIED.

The text says, “If thou knewest”, that’s the question. Do you know who it is that speaks through his written word? Do you know this one who is the incarnate God? Do you know this one who paid the price of sin for all of whom the father hath given him? Do you know this one who sits on his throne, ruling over all that is? Do you know this one, who comes to his elect, when they are dead in trespasses sin, raising them from spiritual deadness?  Do you know this one who is rich in mercy? Do you know this one who quickens (gives life) to his people? Do you know this one who is the author, and finisher, of your faith?

IF SO? THEN YOU HAVE TASTED THE WATERS OF LIFE IT SELFCHRIST JESUS THE LORD

Our Lord asked Peter, who do you say that I am? Peter answered,   Thou art the Christ, the Son of the living God. CHRIST answered, Blessed art thou, Simon Barjona: for flesh and blood hath not revealed it unto thee, but my Father which is in heaven.

BLESSED ARE THOSE WHOM THE FATHER REVEALS “THE LIVING WATER”

OF GOD

 (Joh 1:13)

We read in verse 12,”But as many as received him, to them gave he power to become the sons of God, even to them that believe on his name”. But who are these that receive, who are these that believe? They are as it states, “the ones who are given”. All of Gods children will receive him, and will believe on his name, for we are GIVEN the power to become the sons of God, we were of God before the foundation of the world in Christ, but our wicked and rebellious hearts would not ,receive him, nor would our unregenerate heart, believe on his name. Those who are of God, are given a new heart, they are born again in the day of his power, with this new heart comes the power from God to become sons of God. So we read in verse 13,” Which were born, not of blood, nor of the will of the flesh, nor of the will of man, but of God. It is either all of GOD, or not of GOD at all                                                                                     John Reeves

AND THE REST WERE BLINDED

(Romans 11:7)

Dear reader, may God be pleased to give you sight!

“Here in Romans, the writer is declaring Sovereign Grace in Election. (Romans 11:5).  There is no confusion here.  The words are as clear as a bell ring.  You are either blind or not!  The Truths of God’s Words are as simple and clear as the miracles Christ preformed while walking this earth.  In the end, there was no question as to who had given the blind man sight in John chapter 9. Yet those religious Jews still did not believe, because they were not God’s sheep (John 10:26).  In truth, they were the ones still blinded. We come into this world blinded by our own pride and self righteousness.  Blinded by our own works, our nature is to make ourselves out to be more than we are.  Dear reader!  My words are inadequate in describing how thankful I am in the knowledge that ‘Once I was blind, but now I see.’  I see that God supplied a substitute in His Son, the LORD JESUS CHRIST, for my sins.  I see that CHRIST has fulfilled all that I need to be reconciled to GOD.  I see that, for CHRIST SAKE, I was not left with the rest who were blinded.  Amazing Grace How Sweet The Sound!”

  BORN OF THE SPIRIT

(John 3:7 Ye must be born again.)

The Gospel of Jesus Christ and Him crucified, is foolishness to the natural man! That’s why Nicodemus asked such a foolish question (v4). Entering a mother’s womb a second time is impossible. Ironically, that’s exactly the case when it comes to believing on the Lord Jesus and His Gospel! The unregenerate heart, cannot perceive the kingdom of God, that’s why this doctrine of free will, or making a decision for Christ is a false doctrine! The dead can’t do anything! It is Christ that giveth life (Joh 17:2). And he has mercy on whom he will have mercy (Rom 9:18). This is the new birth, to be born again is to have that natural stony heart cut away, (circumcised). And replaced with a new heart, one that has the gift of Faith, one that will believe on the Lord Jesus Christ, and this is done in the day of, and by the power of God alone! The word believe, means too trust. In your heart, are you trusting in anything you have done? Are you trusting in your own trust? The true believer has no confidence in the flesh.  I DARE NOT TRUST THE SWEETEST FRAME, BUT WHOLLY LEAN ON JESUS NAME!

***************

I CHANGE NOT

Mal 3:6  For I am the LORD, I change not; therefore ye sons of Jacob are not consumed.

What a comfort these words are to a child of God, we by Gods grace have been shown, through the preaching of his word our need of a savior. Due to our fallen nature! We have nothing within ourselves, worthy to stand before a Righteous and Holy God, as a matter of fact, the only thing we are worthy of is His wrath! His Judgment! Yet there is a people declared to be chosen before the foundation of the world, (EPH.1:4). People such as Isaac, and his father Abraham. When Isaac said to his father, Behold we have fire and wood: but where is the lamb for a burnt offering? Abraham’s response was, My son, God will provide himself a lamb for a burnt offering. (Gen.22:7 & 8). This is the very one, John the Baptist declared Behold the Lamb of God, which taketh away the sin of the world. (JOH.1:29). When he saw Jesus approaching. We also see the Apostle John call him the Lamb slain from the foundation of the world, (Rev.13:8). So why do these words, (I CHANGE NOT) bring comfort to sinners? The LORD JESUS CHRIST HAS BEEN OUR SACRIFICE FROM THE BEGINNING! And because he is unchanging then we who were chosen in Christ, purchased by Christ, called in Christ, can never loose our salvation, in Christ!

Therefore ye sons of Jacob are not consumed.

                          ZION

The Christian religions of this world would love to convince you that they all are worshipping, the same god, just in different ways. Just as they would love to convince you that all are loved by God, and he is waiting for you to make a decision to receive his love. But as we see in 153 places in the Old Testament, God has a people, of whom he has chosen before the foundation of the world, (Eph. 1:4). This people are referred to as the people of Zion, (Isa,51:16). and say unto Zion, Thou art my people. Is this what you hear from most churches today? No it is not! They declare all mankind are God’s people. Yet we see the Lords instructions to the profit Isaiah are to say “UNTO ZION”, another words, speak unto my people, feed my sheep, comfort ye comfort ye my people! It doe’s not instruct him to speak to all the other people of this land or any other land for that matter, as it say’s in (Isa, 52:7), Beautiful are the feet of him that publisheth salvation; that saith unto Zion, Thy God reigneth! So I speak to the people of Zion! There is only salvation in one person, THE LORD JESUS CHRIST, He is GOD ALMIGHTY, and He REIGNETH! He has Mercy on whom he will have Mercy, He who went to the cross as the substitute for his people is to be called JESUS, FOR HE SHALL SAVE HIS PEOPLE!

Thus sayeth the Lord, The question is do you believe God’s Word? If not then you are still in darkness, will you go through that door marked death into eternal damnation? Cry out LORD HAVE MERCY ON ME, HELP THOU MY UNBELIEF!

***************

THE HOPE THAT IS IN YOU

                 (I PETER 3:15)

I am sorry to say, that outside of the halls of worship, I come up very short, when speaking about my Lord and Savior! I lack a boldness when it comes to bringing up this subject. If someone else brings it up before me, I am blessed at the opportunity to talk about it, but I am very shy you might say to bring it up before others, I have found most of whom I cross paths with are not interested in the things of Christ! And when those who claim to be Christians, discover my beliefs, of total depravity, unconditional election, limited atonement, irresistible grace, perseverance of the saints, they don’t want to talk about it either!  But notice what our Lord is saying! and be ready always to give an answer to every man that asketh. Why would anybody ask me about the hope that is in me? Maybe because I don’t get all upset when our politics don’t go my way! Or maybe because I don’t jump on the band wagon, gossiping about others, or criticizing one that others are! Could it be that because I do participate in those things, I don’t get asked? Lord help me! Lord give me strength! And when I am asked, may I answer as King David does in His 40th psalm. (I waited patiently for the LORD; and he inclined unto me, and heard my cry. He brought me up also out of an horrible pit, out of the miry clay, and set my feet upon a rock, and established my goings. And he hath put a new song in my mouth, even praise unto our God: many shall see it, and fear, and shall trust in the LORD). My hope is built, on nothing less. Than Jesus’s Blood, and Righteousness!

THY FIRST LOVE

(Rev.2:4)

Can you go back, to the time the lord first spoke to your heart, through the preaching of His Gospel? Remember how it was? like the demonic man, sitting at the feet of Jesus, in his right mind! I believe that is what this is talking about. For some, we became involved with the church, doing this or that to do whatever part we have been blessed to do, cooking, cleaning, grounds keeping, leading the music, playing the piano, bringing devotionals, teaching studies, even preaching a message. Have we become so wrapped up in spreading the Gospel, that our works are more forefront might I say, than He who is the Gospel? If your one of His? bought and paid for with His own blood! He will not leave you there in that condition! He may let us wonder off for a time only to bring us back again by His word! Through His word, we learn our weakness, and see His might! Through His word, we are taught “LORD, TURN US AND WE SHALL BE TURNED”. Through His word, we are reminded of His wonderful mercy! Through His word, we see His gracious love for His people! And we remember “OH HOW I LOVE JESUS, BECAUSE HE FIRST LOVED ME”

*********

ACCURSED FROM CHRIST

(Rom.9:3)

Oh, the sorrow that Paul was feeling at this time for his loved ones! What of you who have been brought to an understanding of what salvation is, according to Scripture, have not had this same sorrow for our loved ones? What one of you would not step into death, if it were possible to save our mate, or a sibling, or any one of those we might love? Yet knowing what salvation is, is too know that “One”, That One who could be a substitute for another! The only one who ever qualified for that position, is the Lord Jesus Christ Himself, only He (as the Godman), could walk in perfect righteousness, so as to establish a righteousness for His elect! Only He, who knew no sin, could be made to be sin, that we would be made righteous in Him. Only He, could be the perfect sacrifice, so as to pay the redeeming price for His chosen people! Only He was made accurse, so we would be made nigh unto Him! And Only He is sitting at the right hand of God, making intersession for all of us, whom the Father hath given to Him! if our loved ones are to be saved, they must come to Christ, and if they do, It’s because Christ has come to them! So we go about our days, as Paul did, telling those we love and care about, who our savior is, and what He has done for us!

*********

 IT IS FINISHED

( John 19:30 )

Those of the world around us do not believe our Savior’s last words  spoken from the tree of which He hung on. “No!” the god who is spoken of in most of the pulpits of this world, is one who loves everyone, and is waiting for you to receive him by coming to him! That’s what I hear from most pulpits today! Please come to Jesus! Stop throwing your life away and accept Jesus in your heart! He’s waiting, “all you have to do is ...”, and then they fill in the blank! Great is the Mystery of Godliness. God was manifest in the flesh! This a very important detail that must be considered when it comes to this point “IT IS FINISHED”!  If God had done all that He could, and the rest was up to us, then it would not be Finished, would it? You see, our Savior is one for details.  When He says, “IT IS FINISHED”, He is declaring exactly that! Every detail of salvation is complete; every detail of God’s Holy law has been fulfilled in Christ, establishing a perfect righteousness to be imputed to all who believe. But even the details of belief are fulfilled in Christ, “For by grace are ye saved through faith; and that not of yourselves: it is the gift of God: Not of works, lest any man should boast. (Eph. 2:8&9). This is the peace a true believer has, CHRIST HAS COVERED IT ALL! God the Father chose a people unto Himself before the world was and gave this people to His only begotten Son; God the Son paid their redemptive price, by the sacrificial shedding of His own Blood; and God the Holy Spirit is going about revealing Christ to the hearts chosen from before the foundation of the world, hearts that were predestined to live, and given life by the One who has all power over life and death, Christ Jesus the Lord! ( John 17:2),  All the fulness of the Godhead bodily dwelleth in Him. Every detail of salvation is in place by His authority and His power! Nothing can separate the people of God from the Love that is in Christ the Lord (Romans 8:38 & 39). And when God Gives life to one of His blood bought children, they will come to see, as Jonah did,  “SALVATION IS OF THE LORD (Jonah 2:9).  And they will come to an understanding of this  statement, “ IT IS FINISHED”.

*********

SOVEREIGN

A word you will not find in written form, in the Holy Word of God, yet the meaning of this word is declared on every page through out the entire Bible. Every page declares God to rule and rule alone! No where in scripture can you find where God needed or asked for help from man. If you were to ask any Christian if God was sovereign they would most assuredly say yes, yet most Christians, will also say God rules over everything but my freewill, that is mine to exercise as I see fit! God rules, but I must decide to let Him rule over me. No where in scripture can you find were God needed you for anything! In fact he tells us plainly “it is not of him that willeth, nor him that runneth, but of God that showeth mercy” (Rom.9:16). The God of scripture rules over everything, or we cannot call Him God! He is the Potter and who are we to tell Him what or how! For of him, and through him, and to him, are all things. (Rom.11:36). God the father has highly exalted His Son, giving Him all power, to reign as He see’s fit, and that is exactly what Christ is doing! Ruling from His sovereign throne, working all things according to His own counsel. You declare your will is higher than God’s, that will dam your soul! We who have been called by His Grace, know our will was corrupt, we know, we were made willing in the day of His power! We know that it was His sovereign will that turned us from the road to hell and brought us into a living union with Himself! For by grace are ye saved through faith; and that not of yourselves: it is the gift of God. Not of works, lest any man should boast. (Eph.2:8,9).

*********

THE ROCK OF MY SALVATION

On Christ the solid Rock I stand, all other ground is sinking sand. I am completely assured, that my salvation was purposed by God, before a star ever twinkled in the sky (Eph.1:4). How can I be so sure you say? God’s word say’s so! And I believe God’s word! You see that’s the real difference between the true children of God, and the rest of the religious world! God’s people believe God’s word! We believe we are broke and have nothing to offer God! We believe our salvation is of God alone, through Christ alone! We believe it is not of our will, but of God who sheweth mercy (Rom.9:16). And the Lord’s word say’s that “FAITH IS A GIFT” (Eph.2:8,9). God chose a people, in Christ before the foundation of the world, Christ paid the price of their sins, by sacrificing Himself on that cruel cross! He then arose, death could not hold Him, and he sit’s on His throne today, making intersession for all those that the Father hath given Him! My salvation is Rock solid, because

SALVATION IS OF THE LORD!

A MATTER OF THE HEART

When our Lord Jesus called his disciples unto him, in the book of Mark, (12:43), he declared this poor widow to have given more than all the others who had given to the temple treasury, how can that be? She only had a little money, two mites which make a farthing. To most who had entered and gave, that would have been pocket change at the most! But you see, it was all-knowing, all-seeing, God in the flesh who was sitting there watching these people come and go. He saw beyond the outward appearance of those who gave to the coffer. He saw their hearts for what was truly in them. But does not the Scripture’s declare, The heart is deceitful above all things, and desperately wicked: who can know it? (Jer. 17:9). So what did the Lord Jesus see in the heart of this poor widow, that He did not see in the rest? For by grace are ye saved through “FAITH”; and that not of yourselves: it is the gift of God (Eph. 2:8). He saw her “FAITH”, her “TRUST”, He saw the good and perfect gift, that God had given her, being put to the test! And accomplished! Verse 43 of Mark 12 our Lord say’s, For all they did cast in of their abundance; but she of her want did cast in all that she had, even all her living. She completely trusted God, with all her heart, to accomplish what He said he would accomplish! You see folks, it’s not what you give, it’s not the works that you do! It’s what is in your Heart that matters! Are you trusting in the flesh? When the Lord Gives a new Heart to one of His elect, we no longer put our trust, in our flesh, we see it for what it is, weak and corrupt, we see the only true and sure One we can trust in, Christ the Lord!  “For we are the circumcision, which worship God in the spirit, and rejoice in Christ Jesus, and have no confidence in the flesh” (Php_3:3).

*********

Thy people shall be willing

(PSALMS 110:3)

Willing for what? What are the people of God willing? Could it be to seek after God? If that were so, the scripture in Romans 3 would be a contradiction (There is none that understandeth, there is none that seeketh after God). And as we know the word of the Lord is truth! So, There are none who seek after him willingly! The nature of men fell in Adam! All mankind willingly follow their nature, being spiritually dead in trespasses and sin, we seek only the things that satisfy the flesh! This is why there are so many different types of man’s imaginary gods, we conjure up god’s to fit our hearts desire, according to what satisfies our nature, a deer eats vegetation, because that’s it’s nature! A lion will kill and eat meat because it’s their nature! The nature of man is sin and cannot understand Spiritual truths, for the truths of God are Enmity  to our very nature (Rom.8:7). The Lord of Glory declares “YE MUST BE BORN AGAIN” (Jhn.3:3), this is the work of God and God alone! Who has had anything to do with their own birth? To be born again means too be given a new nature, the old natural heart, must be removed and a new heart that desires the truths of God must be put in it’s place, a new man, a new will, notice the last half of the statement “Thy people shall be willing in the day of thy power,” it takes the power of God for life to form, and the power of God for men to willingly seek after him! man will not seek God until the Lord by His power gives Spiritual life, then once alive, seeing our desperate need of a Savior, we submit willingly, yielding, and fully to Jesus the Lord!

Miscellaneous Articals

 Elder Bill Silva

This is so true of the world. To watch it happen and to understand this is all been prophesied to all that have no hope in God. But to us to whom God Himself takes special interest in He says...Philippians 4:8 KJV

Finally, brethren, whatsoever things are true, whatsoever things are honest, whatsoever things are just, whatsoever things are pure, whatsoever things are lovely, whatsoever things are of good report; if there be any virtue, and if there be any praise, think on these things. Jesus Christ fits all of that and He's easy on the saddness.

CHOOSE YE THIS DAY

Joshua 24:15 KJV

And if it seem evil unto you to serve the LORD, choose you this day whom ye will serve; whether the gods which your fathers served that were on the other side of the flood,  or the gods of the Amorites, in whose land ye dwell: but as for me and my house, we will serve the LORD.

If Adam in his perfect perfection did not choose God over Eve,  ate the fobiden fruit and plunged all of mankind into rebellion against God then how can an imperfect man choose God.

Isaiah 64:7,9 KJV

And there is none that calleth upon thy name, that stirreth up himself to take hold of thee: for thou hast hid thy face from us, and hast consumed us, because of our iniquities.

And the very Lord Jesus Christ said in....

John 15:16 KJV

Ye have not chosen me, but I have chosen you, and ordained you, that ye should go and bring forth fruit, and that your fruit should remain: that whatsoever ye shall ask of the Father in my name, he may give it you.

You see, salvation is a gift, given by the will of God not commanded by the whims of man.

Ephesians 2:8-9 KJV

For by grace are ye saved through faith; and that not of yourselves: it is the gift of God: [9] Not of works, lest any man should boast.

Man will always choose that which sounds, looks or feels right in their own eyes and disreguard that what God declares pleases Himself.

Salvation is not your decision to choose God, but God's good pleasure to choose you.

And if chosen you will serve Him and not He you.

FREE WILL OR SINNER'S WILL

God is the only one with a free will and He does whatsoever He pleases, so, where does that leave man? Those that come to God by their will, l find, also leave God by their will.

GOD THE FATHER'S FAITH

O that we could have the faith to believe in Jesus Christ just as God the Father does.

Ephesians 1:12 KJV

"That we should be to the praise of his glory, who first trusted in Christ."

We need God and His faith to believe the way He commands in His word.

Philippians 2:5 KJV

"Let this mind be in you, which was also in Christ Jesus:"

How do we get God's faith?

How do we let this mind be in us?

We are all vessels, empty without life like a vacant house.

Romans 5:5 KJV

"And hope maketh not ashamed; because the love of God is shed abroad in our hearts by the Holy Ghost which is given unto us."

If there be any hope, then let it be on God's gracious nature to give you the gift of faith. If God makes His abode in our heart, He makes it His home, His throne and we know that it was His will, His power, His anointed Jesus Christ that came to us and not we to Him. We can now believe because we have the gift of faith, God's faith, to believe His Word. When He gives faith it's the whole package.

Ephesians 2:8-9 KJV

"For by grace are ye saved through faith; and that not of yourselves: it is the gift of God: [9] Not of works, lest any man should boast."

Ask Him for His faith, for it is your only hope.

And I saw no temple therein: for the Lord God Almighty and the Lamb are the temple of it.

Revelation 21:22

For us to enjoy and appreciate any book of the Bible we must have a view about God that is revealed from Scripture, a view that He is Almighty.  When He says He is Almighty, that is exactly what He means.  He isn’t almost almighty or almighty sometimes, but He is the Lord God Almighty all the time.  That is God!  In scripture, God helps us out by being redundant.  He is the Lord God Almighty. Three times He says the same thing in those three words.  He reminds us, so that we can remind ourselves, and we can remind others: He is the Lord God Almighty.

Who is your God?

“A god who does not have to perform all the work in salvation is a man-made god made to make man god.  The man who esteems himself as only partly helpless always worships a god who partly saves.  So long as the natural heart is that god, a man has not the necessary revelation to begin to comprehend the divine attributes which his god lacks.

The glory of God is holiness.  He is complete.  He does not need man.  Man adds nothing to his glory nor can man diminish his glory.  God is the beginning.  All things are made by him and for him.  Holy God is satisfied with nothing but what he creates in perfect holiness.  Therefore God alone puts away a man's sin; God alone creates new life in a man; God alone defends and shields a man; God alone ordains and strengthens a man to perform the works he has foreordained; God alone draws the spirit of a man out of his dead flesh; God alone creates glorified flesh after the grave so that the body and spirit of a man are perfected in righteous to live eternally with the righteous God.

A god who in part depends upon man is no greater than the man who created him.  Only when we begin to behold the God who purposed and successfully reveals his glory through the fall and salvation of creatures opposed to him have we truly begun to behold the preeminent Wisdom who is the great I AM.

‘Giving thanks unto the Father, which hath made us meet to be partakers of the inheritance of the saints in light: Who hath delivered us from the power of darkness, and hath translated us into the kingdom of his dear Son: In whom we have redemption through his blood, even the forgiveness of sins: Who is the image of the invisible God, the firstborn of every creature: For by him were all things created, that are in heaven, and that are in earth, visible and invisible, whether they be thrones, or dominions, or principalities, or powers: all things were created by him, and for him: And he is before all things, and by him all things consist’ (Colossians 1: 12 -17.)”

ME AND MY WORDS

Mark 8: 38: Whosoever therefore shall be ashamed of me and of my words in this adulterous and sinful generation; of him also shall the Son of man be ashamed, when he cometh in the glory of his Father with the holy angels.

“The reason a person will not submit to Christ and forsake all for him and his gospel, Christ says, is because he is, ASHAMED OF ME and OF MY WORDS.  If we know the truth that Christ laid down his life for the sheep, justified them, and each shall be called by God for all flesh is grass, yet we are content to hear preaching which says Christ died for all and it is up to man’s will to make it effectual then we are ashamed of Christ and his gospel (Ps 101: 3.) The believer is not ashamed of Christ and must have the gospel.  His words are eternal life.  His gospel is ‘perfect, converting the soul: the testimony of the LORD is sure, making wise the simple’.”

I OUGHT

“Furthermore then we beseech you, brethren, and exhort you by the Lord Jesus, that as ye have received of us how ye ought to walk and to please God, so ye would abound more and more.”

I Thessalonians 4:1

I ought to love my God and Savior with all my heart, soul, and strength.  I ought to love my neighbor as much as I love myself.  I ought to prefer my brothers and sisters so much over myself, that I would die for them.  I ought to pray more.  I ought to study the Scriptures more.  I ought to love my wife, children, and grandchildren more.  I ought to think on my Savior more and share His Gospel with others more.  I ought to complain less and praise more.  I ought to bow to all things providential.  I ought to forgive more.  I ought to walk and to please God so I could abound more and more as a child of the Living God.  I ought to do all these things out of love, adoration and for the glory of God in the Lord Jesus Christ who loved me and gave Himself for me.  Lord, cause me to do as I ought!

“Knowing that God Himself has pronounced a curse on all who do not continue ‘.. in ALL THINGS which are written in the book of the law to do them’ (Gal. 3:10), can you imagine any one wanting to be under that curse?  Yet, countless numbers of men and women have gone to eternal torment trying to justify themselves before God in their foolish, sinful attempt to keep God’s laws for the justification of their souls.  And many today are making the same fatal mistake.  Brethren, Jesus Christ has a chosen people He redeemed from the curse of the law.  When He said, ‘It is finished’, He met the law’s last demand, satisfying God’s Holy Justice FOREVER for those who were given to Him in the eternal covenant of grace.  Those who have been enlightened by the sovereign, life-giving power of God are ‘.. not under the law, but under grace’ ( Rom. 6:14).  God our Father has sent the Spirit of His Son into our hearts, and His Holy Spirit will guide us into all truth (John 16:13).  Those who are led by the Spirit of God “.. are not under the law” (Gal. 5:18).  Pastor Don Bell said: “Believers are not under the law in any way, shape, form, or fashion. God’s people are free from the law’s curse, because ‘Christ hath redeemed us from the curse of the law, being made a curse for us’ (Galatians 3:13).”  Oh! how thankful we should be that we are not under the curse of the law.

Those who call God’s children antinomians (lawless) are spiritually blind to the law believer’s are under.  We’re “.. not without law to God, but under the law to Christ” (1 Cor. 9:21).  When God is pleased to give us the Spirit of His Son, He fills our hearts with a love we never had before.  - a love for Jesus Christ, His Gospel, His people.  We’re under the law of love, and “.. love is the fulfilling of the law” (Rom. 13:10).  The law of Moses does not motivate a child of God.  “.. faith which worketh by love” (Gal. 5:6) constrains every true believer (2 Cor. 5:14).  “What then? shall we sin because we are not under the law, but under grace?  God forbid” (Rom. 6:15).”

*************

“Our Lord Jesus warns His children to “Beware of false prophets (preachers) (Mt. 7:15).  In 1 John 4:1 He tells us that we are not to believe every spirit ‘.. but try the spirits whether they are of God: because many false prophets are gone out into the world’.  How are we to try the spirits?  By the words that come out of their own mouths.  ‘To the law and to the testimony: if they speak not according to this word, it is because there is no light in them’ (Isaiah 8:20).  False preaches can quote Scripture.  They can mix some truths with their blasphemous lies.  Our Lord Jesus said to some unbelieving Jews: ‘If ye continue in my word, then are ye my disciples indeed; And ye shall know the truth, and the truth shall make you free’ (John 8:31 - 32).  Most of them, however, refused to continue in His word, choosing rather to be deceived by their own high opinion of themselves (John 8:41).

When we hear false preachers making statements like: ‘God is trying ...’, or, ‘God wants ...’, right away the warning light should come on.  God is NOT trying to do anything.  That would imply that He is not able to accomplish what He has determined to do.  Moreover, God always does what pleases Him  and NOTHING can even hinder Him.  Some false preachers are saying that God is calling everyone to believe on Jesus Christ, but His call is not effectual because sinners won’t ‘give Him a chance’; won’t ‘give Him permission’ to save them.  In the first place, salvation is not by chance, but on purpose - God’s purpose.  In the second place, God NEVER asks anyone’s permission to do anything.  In the third place, GOD IS NOT CALLING EVERY ONE!  We are to try the spirits by the Word of God.  ‘For ye see your calling, brethren, how that not many wise men after the flesh, not many mighty, not many noble, are called’ (1 Cor. 1:26).  ‘Moreover whom he (God) did predestinate, them he also called: and whom he called, them he also justified: and whom he justified, them he also glorified’ (Rom. 8:30).  Those who hear the voice of Jesus Christ are called with an holy calling; an inward, personal, efficacious call that CANNOT be resisted.  A call that raises us from a state of spiritual deadness.  A call that unites us to the Lord Jesus Christ by His sovereign power, a living union that can NEVER be broken by anything or anyone (Rom. 8:35 - 39).

“In Christ Jesus” (Romans 8:1).

“If we’re not in Christ when we go through that door marked “death”, we’ll die in our sins and go out into eternal torment.  But if we’re in Christ Jesus, “There is therefore now no condemna-tion”.  RIGHT NOW we have received a FULL PARDON from God Himself because of the perfect redeeming work of His Darling Son, the Lord Jesus Christ, who paid the ransom price in full for all of His chosen people.  “In Christ Jesus” is the only hope for any of us hell-deserving sinners.  What God-honoring joy to know that we were “chosen in Christ” by our Heavenly Father before this world was created (Eph. 1:3 - 4).  We were in Christ when He came into this world.  We were in Christ when He perfectly obeyed God’s laws for us.  We were in Christ when He suffered the wrath of God as our Substitute, dying in our room and stead.  We were in Christ when He was buried, when He arose from the dead, and when He ascended into heaven, having obtained eternal redemption for us.  God the Holy Spirit placed us in the body of Christ when He raised us from a state of spiritual deadness, giving us faith to believe the Gospel.  And absolutely nothing can separate us from the love of God which is in Christ Jesus.  What joy, what peace, in knowing that we are ‘In Christ Jesus’.  ‘O to grace, how great a debtor, daily I’m constrained to be’.”

True Worship? or, Religious Garbage?”

In John 4:24, our Lord Jesus said that  God MUST be worshipped  in spirit and in truth.  That should tell any enlightened child of God that the majority of church assemblies are producing nothing but religious garbage.  Any religious organization that promotes man’s works of any kind in salvation is an abomination to God.  I don’t want to be misunderstood so I’ll be as plain as plain can be.  Jesus Christ is the Saviour of His people.  He is every believer’s Sovereign Creator who became a man for this very purpose - to save His promised children.  By His perfect obedience to the will of God the Father, Jesus Christ established a perfect righteousness for all of His elect.  His death reconciled  His sheep to God - ALL OF THEM!  His precious blood washed away all of their sins from God’s sight forever.  He didn’t try to redeem His chosen people.  He got the job done by obtaining eternal redemption for them.  Jesus Christ was delivered for our offences and was raised again for our justification.  It is not what the sinner does that makes him or her acceptable to God.  It is what Jesus Christ has accomplished for His chosen people  that enables God to be merciful to those His Darling Son died for.

The doctrine of universal atonement, the teaching that God loves everybody and that Jesus Christ died for the whole human race, is nothing but religious garbage.  Those who believe those lies do not have the Spirit of Jesus Christ dwelling in them.  They don’t worship God.  They blaspheme Him.  The same applies to those who believe they have earned favor with God by their baptism; by their church affiliation; by meeting on Saturday; by speaking in gibberish; by exercising their so-called free will.  They do not have the Spirit of Christ dwelling in them.  If they did they would not be deceived by such false doctrine.  They do not know God!  What they call worship is nothing but religious garbage.

God’s preachers are sent for this purpose - TO PREACH JESUS CHRIST AND HIM CRUCIFIED!  They do not compromise any of the glorious truths of the gospel.  They consider it a great honor to be allowed the blessed privilege of preaching those truths that give our Great Majestic God all the glory.  And our Lord’s enlightened saints consider it to be as great an honor to sit under the ministry of God’s ordained ministers.  Our hearts are stirred to worship God in spirit and in truth every time we hear His gospel preached.  To absent ourselves from the appointed times of public worship is to rob ourselves of the special blessings God has reserved for those who gather for this purpose - TO WORSHIP JESUS CHRIST IN SPIRIT AND IN TRUTH!

*************

Just before our Lord Jesus laid down His life for His sheep, He said: “It is finished.”  What did He mean by those words?  I can tell you what He did not mean:  He didn’t mean that He had done all that He could, and the rest was up to hell-deserving sinners.  He didn’t mean He had come to do His Father’s will, and then put the eternal destiny of His blood-bought sheep into the hands of their so-called free will.  NO!  He meant that He had come to do His Father’s will, “By the which will we are sanctified through the offering of the body of Jesus Christ once for all” (Heb. 10:9 - 10).  He meant that we, all of His sheep, even when we were His enemies, would be reconciled to God by His death (Rom. 5:10).  He meant that He was being delivered for the offences of His promised children and would be raised again for their justification (Rom. 4:25).  He meant that through His finished work, God would justify all of His elect so that nothing could be laid to their charge (Rom. 8:32 - 34).  He meant that “There is therefore now no condemnation to them which are in Christ Jesus …” (Rom. 8:1) because He, BY HIMSELF, purged our sins (Heb. 1:3) from God’s sight forever (Heb. 10:14 - 17).

*************

God’s mercy is freely bestowed upon a peculiar people - His purchased, special people.   But not at the expense of His Holy Justice.  God CANNOT, and WILL NOT, pardon you, or me, unless we have honored His Holy Law perfectly.  He CANNOT, and WILL NOT, have mercy on you, or me, unless we have perfectly satisfied His Holy Justice!  Jesus Christ is the only man who walked on this earth in perfect obedience to God our Father.  He didn’t come to change God’s law; He came to fulfill it - AND HE DID JUST THAT!  Jesus Christ, the Perfect God-man, represented all of His chosen people when He honored God‘s law.  And He established a perfect righteousness for all those He represented.  His perfect obedience is the perfect obedience for all of those who were in Christ when he walked on this earth.  Jesus Christ, by His Substitutionary death, so perfectly satisfied the Holy Justice of God for all of His chosen people, that absolutely NOTHING can be laid to our charge.  That’s why God has mercy on some hell-deserving sinners, and not on others.  He sees only His elect in Christ.  “He that spared not His own Son, but delivered Him up for us all, how shall He not with Him also freely give us all things?  Who shall lay any thing to the charge of God’s elect?  It is God that justifieth” (Rom. 8:32 - 33).  God sees His chosen, blood-bought people in Christ,  JUST-AS-IF-WE-HAD-NEVER-SINNED!  That’s good news for any hell-deserving sinner.

*************

Absolutely no one will cry out for God’s mercy until the Holy Spirit makes them see that they are spiritually bankrupt!  Then, and only then, are they ready to receive Jesus Christ as their only hope; as their Savior; as their Sovereign Lord; AS THEIR ALL IN ALL!

The Gospel of Jesus Christ is not ‘God has done His part, now the rest is up to you.’  The Gospel is not what the sinner can do for God, but what Jesus Christ has done for the sinner.  “Christ ... hath suffered for sins, the just for the unjust, that he might bring us to God, being put to death in the flesh, but quickened by the Spirit” (1 Peter 3:18).  When Jesus Christ died, He, by Himself, purged our sins (Heb. 1:3); He reconciled us to God (Rom. 5:10).  Our Savior was delivered for our offences and was raised again for our justification” (Rom. 4:25).  Christ suffered and died for our sins THAT HE MIGHT BRING US TO GOD!  The risen, exalted Christ of God is not trying to find His lost sheep.  In the Person of God, the Holy Spirit, our sovereign Lord will seek and save all those He suffered and bled and died for.  He MUST bring them to Himself.  They MUST hear His voice.  He said so (John 10:16). God the Father has put all things under the feet of His glorified Son and has given Him power over all flesh.  By the quickening power of our risen Savior, He gives eternal life to as many as His Father gave Him (John 17:2).  He gives us a new heart to come to Him by faith, a heart that rejoices in His glorious Gospel.  Sinners have not come to God if they have not bowed down to the Lordship of Jesus Christ.  They have not come to God if they’re trusting in something they have done to try and merit God’s grace, including their so-called free will.  We come to God when we come to the Christ of Holy Scripture; when we believe that He suffered for our sins that He might bring us to God; when we believe that being now justified by his blood, we shall be saved from wrath through him.  Sinners come to God when we, by His gift of true saving faith, bow down to the risen, glorified Son of God, confessing Him as our Sovereign Lord and Saviour.  Whosoever shall call upon the name of the Lord shall be saved.  But absolutely no one will call upon the name of Jesus Christ until they hear and believe the true Gospel of God‘s sovereign, amazing grace..  Brethren, God the Holy Spirit is the one who sends His preachers to preach the Gospel of Jesus Christ in those areas where His lost sheep are (Rom. 10:13 - 15).  Under the preaching of the Christ of Holy Scripture, the sovereign power of the risen, glorified Son of God is manifested for the glory of God the Father when He delivers His chosen, redeemed children from the prison-house of unbelief, bringing them into a living union with Himself.

Can any finite human being decide who our parents will be?  Can we decide when and where we will be born; whether we will be male or female; what nationality we will be; what color our eyes and hair will be?  Anyone who has the mental ability to reason knows that the answer to those questions is an emphatic NO!  Why, then, do self-righteous religionists think their decision has earned them the right to enter heaven’s glory?  They’re unreasonable sinners, dead in trespasses and sins, THAT’S WHY!  Spiritual truths are nothing but foolishness to them (1 Cor. 2:14).  The perfect redeeming blood of Jesus Christ that cleanses His people from all their sins means absolutely NOTHING to them.  Jesus Christ seated on His sovereign throne of power is blatantly denied!  They have no love for the truth that they might be saved.  THEREFORE, God sends them a strong delusion that they should believe a lie: that they all might be damned who believe not the truth, but have pleasure in unrighteousness (2 Thess. 2:11 - 12).

Only those who have experienced the days before modern technology know the difference between lighting candles and kerosene lamps, or flipping a switch to light up a room; the difference between taking a bath in a metal tub in water that older siblings have already bathed in, or the luxury of taking a hot shower every day; the difference between using the bathroom in the house, or walking out back to a stinking little out-house.

In like manner, only those who have experienced the miracle of the new birth know the difference between spiritual truths and false religious works.  God must send the Spirit of Jesus Christ into our hearts before we can understand and believe His glorious gospel truths (1 Cor. 2:12).  Then, and not until then, do we know that sin is not just what we do but what we are.  Then, and not until then, do we see our need of a Savior.  Then, and not until then, do we see through the eye of God-given faith that Jesus Christ was sent to this sin-cursed earth from God the Father to save His chosen people from their sins.  Then, and not until then, do we believe that God has forgiven us for Christ’s sake.  Then, and not until then, do we see the risen, exalted, Christ of God on His Sovereign Throne of glory who was raised again for our justification.  Then, and not until then, will we believe that our risen Lord and Savior is working all things after the counsel of His own will for our eternal good and His eternal glory.  Until then, gospel truths will be nothing but foolishness to us (1 Cor. 2:14).

Brethren, only those who have experienced the miracle of the new birth, the miracle that only God can perform, worship Jesus Christ, the true and living God, in Spirit and in truth.  All other religious folks are an abomination to the God of all grace, who chose a particular people in Christ before the foundation of the world.  He sent His Darling Son to this sin-cursed earth to redeem all of His promised children with His own precious blood.  All of them shall receive the gift of true saving faith and come to the Lord Jesus Christ by that same faith, giving Him all the praise and all the glory for His unspeakable gift.

“Those who teach universal redemption do not know the Gospel of God.  And, those who believe that one for whom Christ died; one who has been given faith to believe on the Lord Jesus Christ, having been quickened by God the Holy Spirit, can lose their salvation and wind up in eternal torment, do not know the Gospel of Jesus Christ either. There’s only ONE GOSPEL, and God pronounces a curse on anyone who would dare pervert the Gospel of His Sovereign Grace (Galatians 1:6 - 9).  Jesus Christ saved “His people from their sins” (Matthew 1:21).  When our Redeemer laid down His life for His sheep, He “.. had by himself purged our sins ...”  Our Lord didn’t sit down on His throne of glory until the sins of His people had been purged from God’s sight forever (Hebrews 1:3; 10:14 - 17).  The throne our King is seated on “.. is forever and ever ..” (Hebrews 1:8).  Who, or what, can remove Jesus Christ from His throne?  All power in heaven and earth has been given to Him (Matthew 28:18).  Absolutely NOTHING can separate the Lord’s people “.. from the love of God, which is in Christ Jesus our Lord” (Romans 8:35 - 39).  Our Blessed Redeemer is “Declared to be the Son of God with power, according to the spirit of holiness, by the resurrection from the dead” (Romans 1:4).  Brethren, Jesus Christ is not only seated on His throne in heaven as the Sovereign Monarch over this whole universe, He is seated there as the Surety of His people.  As our Surety, our Lord Jesus “Is able to save them to the uttermost that come unto God by him, seeing he ever liveth to make intercession for them” (Hebrews 7:22 -25).  “Believe on the Lord Jesus Christ and thou shalt be saved” (Acts 16:31).  But make sure you believe on the Christ of God who died, and rose again,  “.. according to the Scriptures.” (1 Cor. 15:3 - 4).”

“When finite, sinful man tells you he will do something, and gives you a hand shake, assuring you that he means what he says, there’s no guarantee that he is telling you the truth. He might even lie by saying he finished what he told you he would do. All men are liars. But our God CANNOT lie. In the eternal covenant of grace, God our Father promised a people to His Darling Son, the Lord Jesus Christ, conditional upon what the Lord Jesus would do for them. Our Sovereign Lord CANNOT FAIL. Just before He laid down His life for His chosen people, He uttered these last three words: “It is finished” (John 19:30). Our Lord Jesus came to do the will of His Father, and He did it - PERFECTLY! The salvation of God’s elect, which was purposed by Him before this world was created, was accomplished by our Sovereign Savior when He laid down His life for His sheep. By His one offering, He sanctified His people, and perfected them in the sight of God forever (Heb. 10:9 - 14). Brethren, when God the Holy Spirit raises us from that state of spiritual deadness, giving us faith to believe on the Lord Jesus Christ, we enter into His perfect, finished work of redemption. ’Hallelujah, What a Savior’!

“… If God be for us, who can be against us?  …” (Rom. 8:31).  NOBODY!  Absolutely nobody!  Nobody!  Nobody!  Nobody!  NOTHING!  Absolutely nothing!  Nothing!  Nothing!  Nothing!  Amen!  Amen! and Amen!  WHY?  Because God’s blood-bought children are “.. more than conquerors ..” through Jesus Christ who loved us and gave Himself for us (Rom. 8:37); “And we know that all things work together for good to them that love God, to them who are the called according to His purpose” (Rom. 8:28).   Amen!  Amen! and Amen!

THE GOD WHO SEES ALL SEES NO SIN IN US!

"He hath not beheld iniquity in Jacob, neither hath he seen perverseness in Israel: the Lord his God is with him, and the shout of a king is among them." -- Numbers 23:21

"How right David was, when he wrote, of God, 'Yea, the darkness hideth not from thee; but the night shineth as the day: the darkness and the light are both alike to thee (Ps. 139:12).' Our God knows all, and he sees all -- even the thoughts and intents of the heart. And yet, what God does not see is any sin, whatsoever, in his chosen people!  God's Word says that he 'hath not beheld iniquity in Jacob, neither hath he seen perverseness in Israel: the Lord his God is with him, and the shout of a king is among them.'

How can the Lord God, who sees all, and knows all, declare that he sees no sin in his chosen people? Because the Lord Jesus Christ has removed our sins from us! When God's Holy Spirit moved Balaam to speak these words, that false prophet could not help himself! If given the choice, he would have cursed Israel, but the Lord forced him to say, of God, "He hath not beheld iniquity in Jacob, neither hath he seen perverseness in Israel: the Lord his God is with him, and the shout of a king is among them.'

Brethren, our God sent his Son to die on the cross, in order to save us from sin! And 'as far as the east is from the west, So far has He removed our transgressions from us (Ps. 103:12).'  God's Word says, 'For he hath made him to be sin for us, who knew no sin; that we might be made the righteousness of God in him (2 Cor. 5:21).'  And so, again, David has rightly said, 'Blessed is he whose transgression is forgiven, whose sin is covered. Blessed is the man unto whom the LORD imputeth not iniquity, and in whose spirit there is no guile (Ps. 32:1-2).'  The Lord 'hath not beheld iniquity in Jacob, neither hath he seen perverseness in Israel!'  The God who sees all sees no sin in us, because his Son loved us and gave himself for us!"

We read these words in Isaiah 1:18: “Come now, and let us reason together, saith the Lord;  though your sins be as scarlet, they shall be as white as snow; though they be red like crimson, they shall be as wool”.   Was our Lord trying to reason with men and women who do not have His Holy Spirit dwelling in them?  ABSOLUTELY NOT!   Unregenerate sinners are unreasonable!  ALL OF THEM 2 Thess. 3:2)  Human reason and human logic have absolutely nothing to do with salvation.  It is the Spirit that quickened;  The flesh profited nothing … (John 6:63).  To portray our Lord as One Who is trying to reason with a spiritually dead sinner is to imply that He might fail.  Brethren, Jesus Christ is THE ALMIGHTY GOD!  HE CANNOT FAIL!  Our Lord Jesus reasons with those who have been convicted by God the Holy Spirit.  Those who know they are polluted in their own blood.  Those who know their sins are as scarlet.  Those who have a sincere desire to be clothed in a perfect righteousness that will make them as white as snow in the sight of a Thrice Holy God; God Who cannot even look upon sin.  God gives us His Holy Spirit so “.. that we might know the things that are freely given to us of God (1 Cor. 2:12).  When we experience the miracle of the new birth, we hear these words:  “Come unto me, all ye that labour and are heavy laden,  and I will give you  rest” (Mt. 11:28).  Those are the sinners our Lord reasons with.  Those who feel the burden of sin.  Those who labor, seeking God’s forgiving grace.  And all of His enlightened sheep will have Jesus Christ revealed to them as their perfect Saviour.  By God-given faith, we believe Jesus Christ has made us perfectly righteous before God by His perfect obedience to His Father’s will.  We believe the precious blood of Jesus Christ has cleansed us from every spot and stain.  We rejoice with heartfelt praise to God our Saviour, knowing that “There is therefore now no condemnation to them which are in Christ Jesus, … (Romans 8:1).
