‘I will do all my pleasure’
--Isaiah 46:10--

“The God of heaven is infinitely, totally and absolutely sovereign.  It is written, ‘Our God is in the heavens; he hath done whatsoever he hath pleased’ (Psalm115:3). ‘Whatsoever the Lord pleased, that did he in heaven, and in earth, in the seas, and in all deep places’ (Psalm135:6).

My friends, there is no possible alternative between a sovereign, omnipotent, supreme God, who does what he will, when he will, with whom he will and in the way he will, and no god at all.  You cannot have a frustrated, defeated god.  If there is any power that can resist him, change him, or defeat him, he is not god.  Either God is sovereign, supreme and almighty, or there is no god.  A god who has to give an account of what he thinks, what he purposes, or what he does is no god at all.  Therefore it must be concluded, the god of modern, religious fundamentalism is no god at all. He is the idolatrous figment of man’s imagination. Those who preach this weak, defeated, frustrated god are false prophets.  And those who worship him are lost. Their religion is idolatry.  Someone said, ‘A god whose will can be successfully resisted, a god whose designs can be defeated or frustrated, a god whose purpose or counsel depends in any way on the help or co-operation of any creature, has no claim to deity. Instead of being an object of your worship, he merits nothing but your contempt.’

I worship God on the throne.  I believe and trust God on the throne.  I preach God on the throne.  The Lord our God is totally sovereign.  He is sovereign in creation, sovereign in providence and sovereign in salvation.  He says, ‘I will have mercy on whom I will have mercy, and I will have compassion on whom I will have compassion.  So then it is not of him that willeth, nor of him that runneth, but of God that showeth mercy’ (Romans 9:15-16).

“Jesus Christ is not a way to God.  He is the ONLY WAY any hell-deserving sinner can come to God (John 14:6).  Brethren, substitution is not a take it or leave it gospel.  Substitution is the gospel!  As the God-man, Jesus Christ walked on this earth in perfect obedience to the will of God the Father, establishing a perfect righteousness for His chosen people.  As the Lamb of God, Jesus Christ satisfied the Holy Justice of God for His elect by laying down His life for them.  As God’s risen, glorified, exalted King, Jesus Christ now lives to give eternal life to all who were given to Him by God the Father (John 17:1 - 3).  Jesus Christ is the sinner’s only hope, who has already entered within the veil, there to appear in the presence of God for those He purchased with His own precious blood.  Flee to Him for refuge, and lay hold upon the only sure hope for sinners (Heb. 6:17 - 20).

“Having obtained eternal redemption for us” (Heb. 9:12).

Any man who would dare preach that the blood of Jesus Christ only made redemption possible, conditional upon what the sinner must do, is a preacher of heresy.  Jesus Christ obtained eternal redemption for His people, PERFECTING FOR EVER those He sanctified when He offered Himself as a sacrifice for their sins (Heb. 10:9 - 14).  A true preacher sent from God will COMFORT God’s people by telling them their “warfare is accomplished” (Isaiah 40:1 - 2); that Jesus Christ has redeemed us to God by His blood OUT OF every kindred, and tongue, and people, and nation” (Rev. 5:9).   Brethren, absolutely NOTHING can be laid “to the charge of God’s elect”.  WHY?  God Himself has justified His people.  “He that spared not his own Son, but delivered him up for us all, how shall he not with him also freely give us all things?  Who shall lay any thing to the charge of God‘s elect?  It is God that justifieth.” (Romans 8:32 - 33).  I wouldn’t walk across the street to hear some screaming free-will preacher dishonor my Lord Jesus with his blasphemous lies, no matter how famous he might be in the eyes of the religious people of this world.  But I would travel hundreds of miles just to be with a few of God’s saints who believe the Lord Jesus Christ is God Almighty who became a man so that He could give Himself for our sins, and deliver us from this present evil world (Gal. 1:4).  Those who do not believe that Jesus Christ “.. by himself purged our sins” (Heb. 1:3) do not believe in the Christ of Holy Scripture.  God’s enlightened children, by the gift of His faith, believe that when Jesus Christ died for our sins, He saved us.  We believe that Christ our Savior obtained eternal redemption for us.

*****  Cleaning duty this week: Michael and Lindsey Smith  *****

Any deeds man thinks he has done to earn salvation is called “dead works” because they come from spiritually dead sinners.  By His Majestic Power, our Sovereign God has delivered us from such blasphemous, Christ-denying teachings (Heb. 9:14; Eph. 2:1 - 9).

1 Kings 21                         Jeremiah 27                        Luke 7

1 Kings 22                         Jeremiah 28                        Luke 8

2 Kings 1                           Jeremiah 29                        Luke 9

2 Kings 2                           Jeremiah 30                        Luke 10

“What a person believes that our Lord Jesus ACTUALLY ACCOMPLISHED at Calvary will determine (in that person’s mind) for whom Christ suffered and died!  The Scriptures say, ‘He PUT AWAY SIN by the sacrifice of Himself’; By Himself HE PURGED our sins’; ‘We ARE SANCTIFIED through the offering of the body of Jesus Christ ONCE FOR ALL’; ‘The blood of Jesus Christ, God’s Son, CLEANSETH US FROM ALL SIN’; By His stripes WE ARE HEALED’.

Our Lord did not die to make salvation possible for all; but He died the Just for the unjust, that He might BRING US TO GOD; and He shall certainly do just that!”

“When Christ entered into Jerusalem, the people spread their garments in the way.  When He enters into our hearts, we pull off our own righteousness and not only lay it under Christ’s feet, but even trample on it ourselves.”

A Strong Consolation (Hebrews 6:17 - 19).

“If only one of God’s sheep were to perish, the purpose of God would be frustrated, the power of God resisted, the promise of God broken, the faithfulness of God would be a mockery and the word of God proved to be a lie.  If but one of His little ones were to be lost and sin win the day, where would be the veracity, the honor, the grace, the covenant and the oath of God?  The assurance of faith is not in my ability to hold on but the immutable character of my God who loved me and gave himself for me.”

Pastor Darvin Pruitt

“To bring in everlasting righteousness” (Daniel 9.24).

“Consider this single accomplishment of the Lord Jesus and you will find a sufficient cause for rest in your hearts, compelling motivation for praise in your heart, and a firm foundation for the hope of life everlasting.

How hard we have tried, and how useless our efforts have been in creating and maintaining our own righteousness. Truly, our flesh, like all other flesh, is as the grass and flower of the field: no sooner do we manufacture something that looks like righteousness than the winds blow upon it and it withers and dies. What a wearisome task to maintain even the appearance of righteousness, much less the reality of it.  But of the several things that were included in the Lord’s triumphant cry, ‘It is finished’, this is the foundation: He has done for eternity what we cannot do for a moment: brought in righteousness.  We can rest, for all that is required of us by God has been done for us by the Son of God.”

“God's righteousness is received by trusting in His Son.  It is not a righteousness which we earn but a righteousness which we receive as a gift. The means of receiving it is faith, which is a gift of God. ("For by grace are ye saved through faith; and that not of yourselves: it is the gift of God:" Ephesians 2:8).  God imputes that righteousness of the Lord Jesus Christ to every person who trusts in His Son.  Therefore, as far as God is concerned, that person who believes in His Son is perfect in that He has imputed to him the righteousness of the Lord Jesus.  This is what salvation really is.  It is not just escaping hell's heat and going to heaven.  It is being made perfect in the eyes and presence of God through faith in His Son, Who lived a perfect life and died a substitutionary death.  He alone bore the penalty of our sins; therefore, we will not bear it.

“My English teacher in college, when speaking to us about the rules of grammar, would often say, ‘Now to some of these rules there are exceptions.’  Let me give you two rules which are absolutely without exception.

Rule number one:  Every sin shall receive its just penalty and payment, and the wages of sin is death, the second death, eternal death and Hell! (Heb. 2:2; Rom. 6:23).  The Holy God of the Bible, that God with whom we have to do, not only will not but cannot clear the guilty (Ex. 34:7).  He is infinitely and unchangeably holy and just.  All sin shall be punished, justly punished.  NO EXCEPTIONS!

Rule number two:  No sinner for whom the Lord Jesus lived, suffered and died as Substitute and Surety, will ever suffer at the hands of God, any penalty, for any sin!   Justice God does demand, and justice God will have! ‘But justice God cannot twice demand, first at the bleeding Surety’s hand; then again at mine!’  NO EXCEPTIONS!

Dear sinner, there is, right now, ‘no condemnation to them which are in Christ Jesus’ (Rom. 8:1).   In Christ Jesus, through faith in Him, there is full, free, perfect, and everlasting salvation.  Any sinner who has Christ, has God’s Salvation!  No sinner ever sought Him sincerely, in truth, and sought in vain.  He delights to save sinners.  He came into this world to save sinners.  He suffered and died under the wrath of God to save sinners.  He lives and reigns to save sinners.  He is going to save some sinners.  He is fully able to save you.  Do you need Him?  Do you believe Him?  ‘He that believeth not shall be damned”’(Mark 16:16; John 3:36).”
